About Outreach

The Outreach Services Department of the St. Charles Public Library facilitates Library usage for residents of participating senior facilities and nursing homes and those living at home with special circumstances, such as loss of vision or mobility.

The Outreach Services Manager works with each Outreach applicant to determine eligibility and the best delivery option. Additionally, Outreach:

  • Regularly brings materials to participating senior facilities and nursing homes
  • Suggests and/or selects materials for patrons based on patrons’ preferences
  • Registers patrons for Library cards, provides Notary service, and registers patrons to vote
  • Provides information and instruction for the Library’s electronic resources, including eBooks and eAudiobooks
  • Provides information and referral for Library and other free services
  • Maintains book swaps of paperback and withdrawn materials at participating locations
  • Maintains the Large Print collection
  • Produces the quarterly large print newsletter, AtLargeFall14print.pdf
  • Records the Library newsletters and distributes audio versions upon request
