Fredericka Krauss Howard, has been active in art in West Chicago for nearly fifty years as a teacher, artist, and member of the City’s Cultural Arts Commission. She grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, studied at Blackburn College, the University of Illinois in Champaign where she earned her degree, the Institute of Design at IIT, and the College of DuPage. She has done special studies under artists Ruth Van Sickle Ford, George Rocheleau, and Chuck Boone.
Even now, Mrs. Howard is still drawing and going to school. Animals, especially dogs, done in colored pencil are her primary subjects. Doctor Doolittle captured her childhood reading and spaniels her heart.
