Wayne Art League

stripe

April 2006 – Artist of the Month

The Wayne Womans Club was studying painting in the early 1950s. Many members were interested in learning more about painting, and it was at this time that several members of the club decided to form the Wayne Art League. In 1953 George Rocheleau, an Art Institute graduate was invited to instruct, and for 50 years, remained their full time instructor. At present, accomplished guest artists instruct in many media.

The League meets in Wayne at the Little Home Church by the Wayside, 32W128 Army Trail Road. During winter months they meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays. In the summer the group paints on Mondays in many outdoor locations in the Fox Valley. The League has members, men and women, from Woodstock to Batavia, from beginners to established artists. To learn more about the League you may call 630-232-7638. The League members take great pleasure in exhibiting their original paintings at galleries and various public places throughout the Fox Valley.
