Dragonslayer, number 4 in the Bone series, is a fantasy with a reluctant female heroine. After being run out of Boneville, the Bone cousins, Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone, have settled with Thorn, and her Gran'ma Ben, in a small village. Fone Bone, Thorn, and Gran'ma Ben are attacked by rat creatures, which retreat only after Thorn cuts off the arm of their leader. Gran'ma Ben tells Fone Bone that Thorn is a princess, and that she must battle the king of the locusts, or all will be lost. Then Gran'ma Ben disappears. Meanwhile, back in the village, Phoney Bone has convinced the people that he is a dragonslayer, who will protect them from dragons. Read this story to find out what happens next!

When the Queen's evil sister, Redd, attacks the heart palace, Hatter is told to take Alyss through the Pool of Tears and to keep her out of Redd's reach until Alyss comes of age and can regain Wonderland. The trip through the Pool is a whirlpool. Hatter and Alyss become disconnected and end up in different parts of our world. Hatter uses his lethal hat and concealed blades to combat the forces of black imagination in his quest to find Alyss.
