Dick Turpin was a famous highwayman (someone who robbed people on the road) in 1800's England. One night, a young boy is asked by a horseman to hold a black horse until he returns. Through the long night, the boy begins to suspect that this is no ordinary horse. Could this be the famous Black Bess, Dick Turpin's mount? And after soldiers discover the boy and horse, what will happen if Dick Turpin returns? The book has a surprise at the end- read it to find out who's robbing who.

Victor is amazed at Houdini's ability to do almost anything: escape from a bolted metal box dropped in water, walk through brick walls, or hold his breath for five thousand seconds. When Victor tries to imitate these feats, he's stuck. Not only is he unable to escape even a simple locked trunk, he makes no progress whatsoever in walking through walls. Then, Victor meets Houdini himself, who promises to mail Victor a letter with secrets Houdini cannot tell him in a crowded train station. What secrets will Houdini reveal? This book will be great fun for readers who love the mysteries of magic and those who enjoy lots of pictures with their stories.

Many of the celebrities that we know from history- King Tut, Beethoven, Charles Darwin- had awfully gruesome ends. This fascinating book tells in gruesome detail of the deaths of 19 important figures from the past, not leaving out any of the blood, pus, stabbings, or organ removal. Full of information but never boring, this book will have you riveted. For an extra gross and exciting experience, listen to it on audio!
