Third grade is complicated for Grace Stewart. First of all there are four Graces in her class and on the first day her teacher Mrs. Linegar, rhymes with vinegar, decides to find different names for each of them so there is Grace W. and Grace F., Gracie and her. Just because she asked to called just Grace she ends up being 'Just Grace' for the rest of the school year! Add to this the scary teacher, Mrs. Luther that lives next door, the most disgusting boy in third grade and a missing cat and Grace's third grade year becomes quite a challenge. Luckily Grace has a good heart and some very good friends, some that she didn't even know she had.

The Just-So Woman has a tidy home and a regular schedule. When she sits down for breakfast and is out of butter, she changes her routine to make some. Everything goes wrong: first, the stool for milking the cow is broken. In order to fix it, she needs to use the hatchet which needs sharpening. How can someone who does everything the right way have so many problems? Read this book for a window into what it might have been like to live in a time when people had to make things from scratch.
