Adam's father is a video game designer and he has created an interface that lets you control the game by reading your thought waves. This new technology is very expensive to develop so he has been moving from company to company as the money runs out. He has left for a few days to work with a new company, but after two weeks he hasn't returned and Adam has only gotten a couple of text messages from him. Then one morning Adam's apartment is attacked by a huge, invisible T-Rex that takes him prisoner. This monster was created by the company that now seems to be holding Adam's dad prisoner. Is the creature trying to help Adam or is he looking for revenge? Z-rex by Steve Cole is the first book in The Hunting series.

Against his better judgement, Stanley goes with his friend Miranda to Widow Imavitch's yard sale. To his surprise he actually finds something worth buying, a strangely creepy-cute stuffed animal that he calls Zombiekins. Zombiekins looks like a cross between a bunny and a teddy bear with one eye hanging loose. Of course, Stanley pays no attention when the widow warns him to read the instructions. Will he be able to figure out Zombiekin's secret before his whole school is doomed?
