Mella is a young girl trained as a dragon keeper by her grandmother. Not many people can care for the 'common dragon,' but Mella has the special talent to do so. There are legends about dragons, but are they true? After a knight, who is a dragon defender, and his squire (helper), arrive at the family's inn, a dying dragon entrusts Mella with the task of delivering a dragon's egg to the Hatching Grounds in the Dragontooth Mountains. It is a dangerous journey, undertaken by Mella, and the squire, Roger. Their journey is full of adventures. All dragon lovers should read and enjoy this book with its likeable characters.

Darek's brother, Clep, has just returned from a dragon quest, and was lucky enough to kill a blue dragon, considered one of the largest, and fiercest, of all the dragons. After a hero's welcome, the town settles down for the night, and Darek sneaks down to the dragon's body, and discovers a whimpering young dragonling emerging from the dead beast's pouch. Darek knows that if the town finds the dragonling, they will kill it. So Darek goes on an adventure of a lifetime, and returns the dragonling to his home. In doing so, Darek not only becomes a hero, but changes the village's view of dragons forever.

Princess Wilhelmina has a problem. Her father, King Mildred, has promised her hand in marriage to the first knight who slays the dragon which has been ravishing the countryside. Willie doesn't want to be a princess, or to get married. All she wants is to have adventures. As it happens, the old squire, and a page are the only ones brave enough to slay the dragon. They set off, with Willie sneaking off behind them.
The dragon, it turns out, was conjured by an old witch seeking revenge on the king. Her husband left her years before, and her son was lost in a fire set by the king's army. Will all these comical characters get together, and thwart the dragon?
