Tom isn't someone who takes a lot of risks. He's fascinated with Courtney, a girl in his class, and every day, he imagines a new way he could save her life through a secret superhero power. He doesn't actually talk with her, though. When Jessica joins his class, everything changes. Severe burns have altered her appearance, and Tom doesn't know how to handle his own reaction to her and the reactions of his classmates.
