Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale

Mo Willems (2004), 40 pages
Illustrated by Mo Willems
Audience: Preschool - K
Category: Fiction, Picture Books
Any young child who has ever lost a beloved stuffed toy or blanket, or has feared it was lost, will relate to this story of a toddler who loses her favorite stuffed toy, Knuffle Bunny. On a trip to the laundromat with her dad, Trixie loses Knuffle Bunny. Since Trixie can't talk yet, she tries to tell her dad of the emergency in the only way she knows how: gibberish. She throws a tantrum when he doesn't understand. They are both very upset until they arrive home, where Trixie's mom notices Knuffle Bunny's absence. All's well that ends well: Knuffle Bunny is found at the laundromat, and Trixie speaks her very first words! The spot-on portrayal of a toddler tantrum is also likely to amuse parents.
