The book 'H.A. Rey' by Julie Berg gives you a comprehensive look at the life and career of Hans Augusto Rey, creator of the Curious George Series. Hans was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898, but after he married, he and his wife moved to Paris. It was in France that H.A. and his wife collaborated to write children's books. In 1940, the Reys were forced to flee France and travel to America where they became U.S citizens. In 1941, the world was introduced to George the monkey with the book 'Curious George'. Curious George was an instant success. Everyone fell in love with the mischievous monkey. Although H.A. Rey and his wife are most well known for creating the 'Curious George' series, they have authored a host of other children's books. Even today 'Curious George' books are a favorite amoung readers of all ages.
