Alienated

Andrew Auseon (2009), 344 pages
Illustrated by David O. Russell
Audience: 5th Grade - 8th Grade
Gene and Vince are two boys of very opposite personalities, but are best friends. They publish a two-page newsletter featuring aliens. Most everyone believes the newsletter to be a work of fiction, but it really is the result of genuine reporting. Some of the aliens live in a forest by a trailer park in the desert. Even with hard to believe conversations, the story itself is fun. It's about kids and aliens. The well-developed aliens are weird, strange, and exciting. I think nine to twelve year olds will enjoy this story. The aliens are not nightmare-inducing and the kids are normal and brave.
