Rex Zero, The Great Pretender

Tim Wynne-Jones (2010), 224 pages
Audience: 4th Grade - 8th Grade
Rex Norton-Norton, better known as Rex Zero, is moving again, for the eighth time! He was excited about starting seventh grade at Hopewell School with his best friends but now he will be going to a different school across town. He and his friends, Kathy, James, and Buster, concoct a scheme so that Rex can still go to Hopewell. He doesn't mean to lie and steal as he pretends to belong at Hopewell School, but somehow that is what happens. It only takes five days for him to be found out! On top of that, three bullies are threatening him, his sister is up to no good, and his mother has been acting strangely. Why do these things happen to Rex and what will he do next? This is the third book about Rex Zero. Rex Zero and the End of the World is the first book and Rex Zero, King of Nothing is the second.
