What the Dog Said
Audience: 6th Grade - 8th Grade
Grace and Regan's police officer father was killed in the line of duty.
Regan decides to train a dog as a service dog for a disabled child so that she can document this experience on a college essay. Like always Grace, Regan's 13-year-old sister, ends up doing the work. This time, the work is harder than usual since Grace has to attend the training classes with a boy who was involved in her father's murder. The dog that Grace ends up training, Rex, is no ordinary dog-he talks! Grace is in real danger of flunking school. This is a great book of highlighting the healing power of animals.
