Heck: Where the Bad Kids Go

Dale E. Basye (2008), 288 pages
Illustrated by Bob Dob
Audience: 5th Grade - 8th Grade
Category: Fantasy, Fiction, Humor
Milton Fauster doesn't think that life is fair, and neither, for that matter, is death. One moment, he was dragged along on his sister Marlo's spectacular shop-lifting spree (on top of some top-of-the-line cosmetics, she also stole an oar and smashed the mall cupids with it), the next moment he was trapped in the explosion of a marshmallow grizzly bear and died. He and his sister plunged directly to Heck, the nether-world reformatory school. Milton knows he doesn't belong there, while his sister most certainly does. To make matters worse, they were followed by the school bully, Damian, who had it in for Milton. This story is told with great tongue-in-cheek humor, for instance, the ethics teacher is Richard M. Nixon. Will Milton survive Heck and escape the clutches of Principal Bea 'Elsa' Bubb? This is book 1 in the Circles of Heck series.
