Girl's Like Spaghetti: Why, You Can't Manage without Apostrophes!

Lynne Truss (2007), 32 pages
Illustrated by Bonnie Timmons
Audience: 2nd Grade - 5th Grade
Category: Nonfiction
The importance of apostrophes is the topic of The Girl's Like Spaghetti. The book takes a sentence and adds an apostrophe to it to illustrate how one mark can change the meaning of a sentence. For instance, look at the title. By adding an apostrophe to the word girls, the sentence changes from girls liking spaghetti to a girl being like spaghetti. This is illustrated on the cover with girls eating spaghetti and also a picture of a girl with spaghetti hair. This book is ideally suited for teachers or parents, as a homework aid.
