This is from the 'Picture the Past' series. It talks about Ellis Island, all 36 buildings, and the people who passed through on their way to the United States. Short, 2-page chapters examine each step an immigrant went through. Photographs from the time period (1892 - 1924) help show us this port of entry to our country for over 12 million people. Almost half the people who live in the United States today have relatives who passed through Ellis Island. My grandparents did!
