When Snakes Attack!

Paul Hansen (2006), 48 pages
Audience: 4th Grade - 7th Grade
Category: Animal, Nonfiction
Each year, between 10 and 12 people die from snakebites in the United States. This book tells about several people who were attacked, including an extremely rare attack that happened in a small South African town in the spring of 2002. A 10-year-old boy was eaten by a 20-foot-long African rock python. This is the only known instance in history, though, in which a snake has eaten a human being. This book also informs readers of what to do if they ever get a snake bite. Here is a rhyme about snake colors that you may just use someday. 'Red and yellow kills a fellow. Red and black is safe for Jack.'
