Wild Fibonacci: Nature's Secret Code Revealed

Joy N. Hulme (2005), 32 pages
Illustrated by Carol Schwartz
Audience: 2nd Grade - 8th Grade
Category: Nonfiction
Why are the horns of bighorn sheep curved just so? Why are seashells spiraled in that exact way? Why do birds' beaks and talons follow a specific curve? The answer: the Fibonacci sequence, which comes from adding up the two previous numbers to get the next number in the sequence. These numbers are then plotted on squares and the result is exactly the curve found in nature. Amazing! This book, with its beautiful illustrations, and rhyming text, takes a little known concept, and makes it fun.
