Spooky America: Four Real Ghost Stories

Lori Haskins (2003), 48 pages
Illustrated by Viviana Diaz
Audience: 2nd Grade - 3rd Grade
Category: Nonfiction, Scary
Here are four stories that do have historical facts, but, over the years may have become more legend. The first story involves a pirate who would ride his black horse on the beach, and trick ships into thinking they were safe. The second involves a painting that does not like to be moved. The third speaks of a man looking for a bride. An accident took his life, but his bones kept returning to women, and asking them for their hand. The last story is about an old sea captain with a hook who to this day, at the hour of his death, scours the beach for his hook.
