V�gelein is a clockwork fairy that a grieving clockmaker created in the image of his wife. The love that he poured into the work gives her life, but she needs to be wound every 36 hours. If she winds down, she loses valuable memories and abilities, such as speech, flight, and the use of her fingers and toes. Since the death of her creator 300 years ago, she has passed from one caretaker to another, each caretaker taking precautions to provide for her when he or she is gone.
