Rapunzel: A Groovy Fairy Tale

Lynn Roberts (2003), 32 pages
Illustrated by Roger Daniels
Audience: Preschool - 2nd Grade
Category: Folklore, Picture Books
Rapunzel lives atop a broken-down apartment building with Aunt Esme, the scariest lunch lady at the local school. Roger, lead guitarist in a high-school band, overhears Aunt Esme calling; 'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.' Intrigued, Roger schemes to meet the owner of such long, red, hair and they plot her escape. This familiar fairy tale is set in our not-too-recent 1970s, complete with platform shoes, bell-bottoms, and a Saturday Night Live poster (stayin' alive, stayin' alive!)
