My Baseball Book is a perfect introduction to the game of baseball. The book is full of baseball terminology, such as the rules of play, the gear, and the field layout. A youngster will learn all the basics they need to know in order to enjoy watching an older brother or sister play or to play themselves. The illustrations are colorful diagrams that add to the main text of the book and have helpful labels telling a child what the objects in the picture are (such as a batting helmet or a baseball diamond). Gail Gibbons narrates a fictitious baseball game, highlighting how all the terms and rules come together. While a child who has a basic understanding of baseball already could easily navigate this book, if a child is new to the game, an adult should probably read with them and embellish the text and diagrams. Set up perfectly for quizzing a child on objects in the pictures.
